Six join Alumni Board, Development Foundation adds one

MINOT, N.D. – Both the Minot State University Alumni Association and the Minot State University Development Foundation added members to their respective Board of Directors to start the 2018-19 academic year.

Joining the Minot State University Alumni Association Board of Directors is Pam Andrist, American Bank and Trust; Jason Burckhard (’05), Burckhard Orthodontist; Niki Carlson (’05), self-employed; Brandi Fjeld (’10), Minot Public Schools; Julie Drady (’89), Connole and Sommeriville Plumbing and Heating; and Janelle Verhey (’87), retired nurse. Kent Kirkhammer (’06), NewKota Services and Rentals, has been named to the Board of Directors for the Minot State University Development Foundation.

MSU’s Alumni Association Board of Directors currently has 20 members, while the MSU Development Foundation Board of Directors features 12 members.

“It’s exciting to bring on new members to the Board of Directors,” said Janna McKechnie, Director of Alumni and Annual Giving. “This group plays a vital role in further building our relationship with Minot State’s outstanding alumni and will be a positive presence at our many activities both on campus and off. I’m happy to welcome this group of six to the board.”

The Minot State Alumni Association has been active since the very beginning, participating in Homecoming festivities as early as 1929. Today, the mission of the association is to promote a positive relationship that encourages alumni, students, community, and friends of the university be active and emotionally identify with Minot State University.

The alumni association is open to anyone who completed a class at Minot State and there are no membership fees. Minot State has more than 26,000 active alumni worldwide.

MSU’s Development Foundation was incorporated in 1978 exclusively for the benefit of Minot State University, especially in the building of endowments and in addressing the long-term priorities of the university.

“It’s great to have Kent joining the foundation board,” said MSU Foundation Executive Director Rick Hedberg. “This board does some important work on behalf of the University and Kent will be a great addition.”

Both boards meet quarterly along with hosting and attending numerous events both on and off the Minot State University campus during the year.
