Welcome

Minot State University has designed its graduate English program to feature an online learning platform and is co-located with the Northern Plains Writing Project. The online model can assist teachers in working toward graduate certificates, a master’s degree, or in completing professional development hours, for those interested in completing these programs, or for continuing education credits. The application period for 2024 runs from April 1--May 15. Classes begin May 28.

Dr. Samuel Stinson and Dr. Laura Zucca-Scott co-teach the courses in conjunction with the Northern Plains Writing Project. The Project will be conducted online.

The Writing Project offers the following:

  • Financial awards that partially cover costs for six graduate credits.
  • Credits can be used for the Writing for Educators (18 hours) or Professional Writing (9 hours) graduate certificates in English. The Writing for Educators graduate certificate qualifies teachers to teach dual-credit courses.
  • Credits can also be used as part of the Master of Education program, with a concentration in English. The English concentration qualifies teachers to teach at the university level.
  • Opportunities to convene at the North Dakota Council of Teachers of English Conference to discuss projects completed through the NPWP.
  • Reimbursement up to $100 for presenting in-service at your school.
  • Community-building via networking and brainstorming with others.
