Dr. Kerzmann’s educational background includes a doctorate in criminal justice, a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from North Dakota State University.

Her teaching and scholarly work focuses on the corrections field with specific interests of evidence-based practices and interventions for corrections, correctional rehabilitation, actuarial risk assessments, and sexual offenders. Dr. Kerzmann is active in presenting her research at scholarly conferences and has authored publications in Corrections: Policy, Practices, and Research, Journal of Crime and Justice, and Emotion. In addition, she has published several book chapters and technical reports. She is an editorial board member for the International Journal of Law and Society.

Dr. Kerzmann currently serves on the Children of Incarcerated Parents Initiative through the ND DOCR and several MSU committees. She is also a co-advisor of the student CJ club
