Student Profiles

Lindsey Eliasen: Williston, ND, BA in Music, saxophone, senior

At Minot State University, our department of music is made up of more than just classmates and colleagues; we are a family.  The sense of community among students is phenomenal, and even though music may seem like a daunting, competitive career choice, the atmosphere is one of acceptance, growth, and learning.  No matter what ability level or background in music one may have before entering the program, students and faculty alike go above and beyond to make sure every single student experiences success.  The small class and studio sizes facilitates a close bond between all students, regardless of area of study, and our world-renowned faculty members constantly inspire us to be great young musicians.

The opportunity to work so closely with such a talented, dedicated, all-around phenomenal faculty who also happen to be hilarious, delightful human beings, is something I am grateful for every single day.  Regardless of whether you are a music major, minor, or just want to continue to participate in band or choir because creating music with your peers is such an incredible experience, the large variety of ensembles means that there is a place for everyone.  The time I’ve spent at Minot State has sculpted me into a person I am proud to be, and I wouldn’t trade my experiences for anything.
