When to Arrive
You may enter the United States a maximum of 30 days before the start date listed on your Form I-20 or Form DS-2019.
If you are beginning in the fall or spring semester, you will be expected to attend to attend the Campus wide Connect Orientation as well as the International Student Orientation.
We recommend that you arrive at least 1-2 days before the beginning of orientation so that you have a little time to get settled and begin to recover from jet lag.
How to Arrive
The Minot State University is located in Minot, North Dakota. Minot can be reached by airplane, train or bus.
Arriving by Airplane
Minot is serviced by Northwest Airlines and flies regularly from Minot International Aiport.Arriving by Train
Minot is served by Amtrak. We recommend that you make reservations in advance.

Minot is served by Greyhound Bus Lines and Northland Bus Services.
Pick-Up Service
The Office of International Programs offers a ride service for new F-1 and J-1 international students coming in to the Minot Airport, Train or Bus Station. Please email the Office of International Programs at least 10 days before your arrival with the following information:
- Your Name
- Date, Time and Place of your arrival
- Flight Number into Minot (if applicable)
- Numbers for Previous Flights-requested in case there is a delay or missed connection
This service is available to new international students only. If your name does not appear on our list of expected F1 or J1 students, we regret that we cannot provide you with this service.
This service is available only within Minot. We cannot provide rides from other cities.
Arrival Housing
You should make advance arrangements for a place to stay on at least your first night in Minot.
If you have arranged a residence hall room or campus apartment:
Find out from the housing office when you will be able to move in
Request early arrival housing from the residence halls if you will be arriving before the regular move in date contact the housing office to figure out means of housing until your semester of study: msu.housing@minotstateu.edu.
If you are unable to stay on campus housing the first night:
Make a reservation in one of the local hotels. There are several hotels located in Minot:
