Terry Eckmann, Ph.D. Educational Leadership; M.S. Physical Education; M.S. Communication Disorders; B.S. Elementary Education; B.S. Communication Disorders. Terry is certivied by ACSM, ACE, and the Ken Cooper Clinic. She has completed Pilates Mat 101 training with the Physical Mind Institute and YogaFit Level I, II, and III training. Eckmann presents internationally on topics related to health and fitness. Dr. Eckmann writes for Club Success, IDEA Health and Fitness Journal, International Council on Active Aging Active Aging Journal and Club Success. Eckmann recently authored the pedagogy chapter(and co-authored and additional two chapters) for the ACSM Personal Training Manual. She is the author of the Customer Service Chapter for the Human Kinetics 2007 Health Fitness Management 2nd Edition. She serves on the Advisory Board of the International Council on Active Aging and is the Vice President Elect for Universities for the state NDPHERD Board. Eckmann hosts KXMC Eye on Fitness, a fitness segment on the noon show for the Minot viewing region. She writes a column for Minot Daily’s Senior Scene. Eckmann has been nationally recognized for her work in the fitness industry; she received the IDEA Make Fitness Happen Award in 1996 and the 1997 Club Industry Distinguished Business Award for Industry Enhancement. Eckmann received the North Dakota Picture of Health Award and the Toastmaster’s Excellence in Communication and Leadership Award in 2003. Eckmann actively engages students in research at Minot State University. Her research interests include emotional intelligence, weight management, exercise adherence, older adults and exercise and other fitness/wellness related issues. Terry is a native of North Dakota and grew up in Halliday, N.D. She is married and the mother of Cole and Katie. She enjoys traveling, participating in fitness activities, reading, cooking, scrapbooking, writing, and spending quality time with family and friends.
