Pat Schwan is currently Trumpet Instructor at Minot State University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and his Master of Music Education from Minot State University. He retired in May, 2021 as the Director of Bands at Minot High School. Mr. Schwan previously taught at Erik Ramstad Middle School, Memorial Middle School, Granville Public School, and Butte Public School.

Throughout his years teaching, Mr. Schwan has received numerous awards including Who's Who Among America's Teachers, the Golden Apple Award, the National Band Association’s (NBA) Allegro Band Award, and the NBA’s Citation of Excellence.

Mr. Schwan is an active performer and serves as the Principal Trumpet of the Minot Symphony Orchestra. In addition to playing in the MSO, he performs with numerous community groups including the Minot Community Concert Band, Minot City Band, the Brass Band of Minot, the North Dakota State American Legion Band, Dakota Dixie and various brass quintets. He directs and plays in the Swing Band of Minot.

Mr. Schwan is in demand as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician across North Dakota. Pat and his wife, Colleen, have three adult children. In his free time he enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
