Jan taught secondary business education at Wolford High School for 23 years. She was a finalist for North Dakota Teacher of the Year in 1994, and was named 2005 North Dakota Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year.
She is a professional member of the National Business Education Association (NBEA),treasurer of North Dakota Business and Office Education Association (NDBOEA), the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), and the Delta Kappa G amma Lambda Chapter, and corresponding secretary for Alpha Omicron State Delta Kappa Gamma.
