Broadcasting Program

KMSU Productions

KMSU Television Channel 19
Broadcasting over the airwaves of 20,000 households in the Minot area allows MSU's Broadcasting Department to take over MidCo’s Cable Channel 19. With over 20 hours of programming each week, KMSU-TV broadcasts its very own TV news program each Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. called "Inside/Out." Other programs include live Beaver basketball games that the broadcasting students direct, edit, and anchor.

When KMSU isn't live on the air, public service announcements scroll across the screen while the KMSU Channel 19 radio station plays in the background with student DJ's controlling Minot's only Alternative Radio Station.

MSU Inside/Out
Students enrolled in this class produce, edit, promote, direct, and anchor the televised show each week. Watch KMSU-TV live on Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. on MidCo Channel 19. Catch replays Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., and Friday at 2:30 p.m. & 6:30 p.m.

KMSU Radio Channel 19
The KMSU Channel 19 radio station is broadcast over Midco’s Channel 19 whenever KMSU-TV isn't airing programming. KMSU radio has an alternative format; some of the music played is sent from small record producers who give away CDs to college stations for promotional purposes.

KMSU Auction
The KMSU Auction is designed to raise funds for the Broadcasting Department with a portion of the proceeds donated to a local cause or charity. The idea behind the KMSU Auction is to get students out into the community to talk with area businesses, request donated goods or services and get students to apply their study of broadcast production to a real life situation.

The KMSU Auction is Thursday, December 3, 2015. Last year, the KMSU Auction raised over $11,000 for the Broadcasting Department and the Souris Valley Animal Shelter. This year, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Backpack Buddies and Project Ignite Light.
