KMSU Television Channel 19
Entering into 15 years of broadcasting over the airwaves of 12,000 households in Minot. Minot State University's Broadcasting Department has taken over MidContinent Cable Channel 19.
With over 20 hours of programming each week, KMSU-TV broadcasts its very own TV news program called "Inside/Out." Other programs include live Beaver basketball games that broadcasting students direct, edit, and anchor.
When KMSU isn't airing programs, public service announcements scroll across the screen while the KMSU Channel 19 radio station plays in the background with student DJ's controlling Minot's only Alternative Radio Station.
The KMSU Auction is a unique way for Minot State's Broadcasting students to apply their studies of broadcast production, public relations, and advertising.
The KMSU Auction was first designed to raise funds for the broadcasting department and was to run only one year. The idea was for students to go into the community, talk with area businesses, and ask for donated goods or services. These donated items would then be auctioned live from the broadcasting studio on the Minot State University campus. The auction was a huge success and continues to grow each year.
The KMSU Auction will be held Tuesday, December 6th, 2011. Last year, the Auction raised over $15,000 for the broadcasting Department. In years past, 10% of the proceeds were donated to a local cause. This year, the KMSU Auction has decided to flip the percentages and forfeit their profit for local flood relief. The BEAVERS REBUILD Flood Fundraiser will be held in conjunction with the auction to determine recipients of the profits raised.
