Troy began working at Minot State University, in 2013, as a faculty member in the department of Teacher Education and Kinesiology for six years. His current position involves and performing individual and group therapy, outreach services, education, and referral assistance on MSU's campus. He also does part-time adjunct instruction.

Troy is eclectic in counseling and therapy, drawing from several theoretical orientations and techniques, including: Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Brief Psychodynamic Therapy (BPT). Troy is informed in treating stress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, grief and loss, trauma, and athletic psychology.

Outside of his responsibilities at Minot State University, Troy works with the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), the Multi-Service Eating Disorder Association (MEDA), the Eating Disorders Coalition (EDC), and the International Council of Eating Disorders (ICED).

In his spare time, Troy enjoys running, sports, outdoor activities, traveling, motivational speaking, and has authored a book, "Unbroken: Journaled Reflections of Recovery." Troy has two dogs, Oliver and Mia, who also work with him at MSU.

*Troy holds a North Dakota Educator's Professional License, a North Dakota K-12 School Counseling Credentialed Licensure, and a North Dakota Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) License.
