Dr. Karagoz started his career at Minot State in 2020. Previously, Dr. Karagoz served as an assistant professor at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Administration of Justice from Turkish National Police Academy in Ankara, Turkey (2004), and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice (2014) and a doctorate in Public Administration (2018) from Pennsylvania State University at Harrisburg. Prior to his graduate studies, he worked as a sergeant and a lieutenant at Istanbul Police Department, Turkey (2004-2012).

He has co-authored multiple publications. His teaching and research interests includes policing, criminal justice policy, criminology, comparative criminal justice systems, terrorism, social networks, and impacts of social networks on organizational and individual outcomes, such as adoption of innovation and organizational/individual performance.
