Celebrating Human Herstory

"A Woman’s Race"

March 12-Wednesday, 3:00 p.m., Dome (South lobby)

This event is an "Amazing Race" style competition in which no more than fourteen teams, each consisting of 2-4 people, will travel around the Minot State University campus gathering hints and answering trivia questions in order to be the first team to reach the finish line. This event will require traveling but is restricted to the grounds of Minot State University. This event is open to MSU students, faculty, staff and the public as well. This game will closely relate to the popular television show and will include now famous items such as the fast forward and detour signs. Prizes will be awarded.

The rules are simple in this game and are as follows:

  1. This game is based on an "every team for themselves" mentality. This means that only team members can work with each other and any infraction of this rule will incur a twenty minute penalty.
  2. This game will closely rely on popular history of the Minot State University campus and the history of North Dakota as well (specifically how each of the two directly relates to women). Use of any reference material (including but not limited to: fact books, dictionaries, history books, web printouts, or any similar materials that will give an unfair advantage over another team) is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate disqualification from the race.
  3. This game will end with a Jeopardy-style competition in which the members of the first team to arrive at the finish with sufficient proof of completing all legs of the race will face off against each other. This stage of the competition will contain trivia about MSU and the state of North Dakota as well but will only be played for one round. The person who has the most points at the end of this stage of the competition will be deemed the winner.

Registration
Only the first 14 teams that register will be allowed to participate. Teams may either register in advance or at the Dome lobby on the day of the race, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. You will need to provide your team name and the first and last names of all team members. For advance registration, send this information to Tamara Halvorson at tamara.halvorson@minotstateu.edu.
