"Women Artists: The Other Side of the Picture"
Women’s Heritage Video Presentation, introduced by Andrea Donovan, MSU Art and Humanities
March 27-Thursday-3:00 p.m.-Audubon Room, Student Union
"Women Artists: The Other Side of the Picture" is an hour-long presentation discussing the notable low percentage of women's art in major museums. Including interviews with practicing artists (including Doris McCarthy, Judy Chicago, Joyce Weiland, and Jane Ash Poitras), curators, art historians, and the "terrorists" of the art world, The Guerrilla Girls, this documentary examines the social history of women in the fine arts by looking at the suppression and the marginalization of female artists.
