Minot State Runs Record to 5-1 with Win at Rocky
Mack's Double/Double helps Beavers Win
BILLINGS, Mont. - Caroline Folven scored a team-high 17 points, while Ari Hendrix added 14 and MacKenzie Mack 13 to lead the Minot State University women to a 61-54 win over Rocky Mountain College Monday.
Folven shot 6 of 12 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line for the Beavers. Mack was 4 of 11 and was also 5 of 6 at the line while chipping in a game-high 13 rebounds for a double-double. Sacarra Molina scored 7 of her 9 points in the second half to give the Beavers some scoring off the bench.
"I thought we had good balance overall, but offensively we struggled a little bit at times," MSU head coach Sheila Green Gerding said. "We got the win but it wasn't pretty at all. Defensively we did a good job for the most part but we weren't as sharp on offense."
The win was the second straight win on the road for MSU, which also topped Montana-Western Sunday in Dillon, Mont.
"(Rocky) did a good job of keeping us off balance offensively, which played a factor," Green Gerding said. "It's been a tough trip out here. Dillon is a long ways, and Rocky is always a tough place to play, so we are happy to come away with a couple wins."
MSU improved to 5-1 overall with the win and will travel to Dickinson to play Carroll College Friday at 5 p.m.
