Kara Schumacher

Kara Schumacher                 Kenmare, ND                 5'7" OH       

Kara Schumacher, originally from Kenmare, will be transfer to Minot State after completing two years at Williston State College. Schumacher helped to lead the Tetons to a National Tournament appearance in 2006 in Scottsdale, AZ and to a 2nd place finish in Regionals in 2007. Kara was named to the MonDak All Conference Team both years while in Williston.

"Kara will be a great addition to MSU Volleyball. She is a very dynamic player with the drive, desire and intensity that any coach would love to have," said MSU Coach Johnna Lewis.

Ashley Holmen

 

Ashley Holmen                       Berthold, ND                   5'11" MH/OH

Former Berthold standout Ashley Holmen has signed with the Minot State University volleyball program. Holmen has spent the past three years at the University of North Dakota, where she played libero the last two seasons.

“We are very excited about Ashley joining next year's team,” MSU head coach Johnna Lewis said. “Ashley gained a lot of experience defensively over the last two seasons at UND and I'm excited to see her turn her offensive game on here and MSU.”

 

Kaitlyn Zalinko                       Rouleau, Sask.                 5'8" Setter
Bailey Brotzel                        Regina, Sask.                    5'10" MH

Kaitlyn Zalinko and Bailey Brotzel will be joining the Minot State University Volleyball Team for 2008 season. Zalinko is a 5'9 setter from Rouleau, Saskatchewan and Brotzel is a 5'10 middle hitter from Regina , Saskatchewan . Both of these athletes have spent many years playing club volleyball for the Regina RADZ team.

In 2004, Brotzel was named Female Athlete of the Year. She has also been a member of the Provincial Team, which were Provincial Champions twice.

Zalinko was named Saskatchewan Volleyball Association 16U Female Athlete of the year. She has also taken part in the Saskatchewan Provincials in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

“Kaitlyn and Bailey are going to be a great addition to our program next season. They have been part of a very successful club volleyball program and will bring a lot of experience to our team,” said Head Coach Johnna Lewis.

 

Paige Anderson                     Regina, Sask.                    5'11 MH

Paige Anderson recently signed a letter of intent to play volleyball with Beaver for the 2008-09 season. Coach Johnna Lewis said, "We're very excited to have Paige joing our program next year. Paige has had the opportunity to play with both Bailey Brotzel and Kaitlyn Zalinko, who will also be with us next season."

Anderson's high school team has won the City Championship three years in row and she has also competed the high school and club Provincials. Paige plays club volleyball for the Regina RADZ and they have won the Provincial Championships in 2004 and 2005.
