Beavers Compete well at Jimmie Invite
The Minot State Cross Country teams headed to Jamestown, North
Dakota for the 2009 Jimmie Invitational on October 2 nd. Both teams
ran very well and say some big improvements from the following weeks.
The men were lead by Brandon Velasquez who was 4 th overall with
a season best time of 27 minutes and 19 seconds. Brandon was the
top DAC and NAIA runner in the field and helped the men to a third
place finish. As running well for the Beavers were Cory Meza and
Leon Median who finished 11 th and 12 th . Ryan Perry and Dylan
Hildenbrand finished off the team with 18 th and 36 th place finishes.
The men finished just 3 points behind conference competitor Dickinson
State; 71-69, with Moorhead winning the meet at 32 points.
The women also ran very strong with Breyette Schall directing the
team with a 3 rd place finish. She ran for a career best time in
19 minutes 39 seconds. Courtney Schall and Liz Beck also ran well
finishing in 14 th and 18 th place respectively. Cassie Sayler and
Amanda Towle rounded out the team at 26 th and 33 rd . Head coach
Stu Melby commented on the performances, “I like how things are
going. We have two weeks to train and get better before our home
meet. We are looking forward to getting home.”
