Beavers are successful at Concordia
This past weekend the Beavers headed to Moorhead, Minnesota to compete
in the Cobber Open held at Concordia College. The men’s team
was lead by Johnny Lester as he finished second in the 60 meters
and tied for seventh in the 200 with times of 7.07 and 23.55. Senior
Devin Hiller was third in the 400 at 50.95 while freshman Khaldon
Evans was fourth in the 600 meter dash at 1:24.06. In the field
events, Alex Boyeff was fifth at the shot put with a throw of 48’9’’.
The men’s 4 x 400 finished off the day by winning the event
in a time of, 3:28.13 with the team of Darwin Schwartz, Israel Altaye,
Evans, and Hiller.
The women were lead with two school record performances from Kayla
Montgomery and Dani Warren. Kayla broke the ten year old school
record in the 200 with a time of 27.00, eclipsing the old record
by .04. She was fifth in the 200 and also placed third in the 60
meter dash with a time of 8.23. Dani Warren vaulted a height of
9’6.25’’ to break the pole vault school record
and placed her seventh. Alissa Klose took home a par of second place
finishes in the Long and Triple Jump, jumping 15’10.5’’
and 34’6.25’’ respectively. Julia Williams also
was second in the shot put with a distance of 39’11.25’’.
Both Jill Lockie and freshman Cassandra Sayler placed fifth, Lockie
in the high jump at 4’7.75’’ and Sayler in the
5,000 with a time of 19:58.77.
Next weekend the Beavers travel to Bemidji, Minnesota to compete
in the Bemidji State Beaver Classic on February 7th.
