Bison Open
February 2nd, 2008

The Minot State Beaver Track and Field team is struggling to overcome illness throughout the last week. The Beavers headed to Fargo this last weekend for the Bison Open. Coach Stu Melby said, "It was a tough start to the weekend, having to leave 11 athletes home due to illness." However, the MSU athletes who did attend proved to hold their own.

Nick Banks, Johnny Lester and Julius Ceasar finished the 60M Dash with times of 7:03, 7:14 and 7:19 respectively. All three walked away from the Bison Meet with the improvements in their times from the meet the week before at Concordia.

Drew Hysjulien competed well for the Beavers in the High Jump and Triple Jump in Fargo. Hysjulien placed 3rd in the high jump with a jump of 6'4" and a triple jump distance of 43' 9 1/4."

Devin Hiller also placed 3rd in the 600M run with a time of 1:24.35. Jenny Castro also placed 5th in the shot put with a throw of 41'4 1/4."Castro's throw was an immprovement of more than two feet from the Concordia Cobber Dual.

The MSU Beavers will be competing this coming weekend at the Beaver Classic in Bemidji, Minnesota.
