Minot State Invite

The Minot State Beaver's cloncluded their first home meet this season with some very impressive marks. The MSU Track & Field teams finish the meet with 32 people either setting a Personal Best Record, a Season Best or tied their season best.

Minot State's Track Coach Stu Melby said, "This was a great meet for us. It helped us to build more confidence going into the DAC Indoor Championships this coming weekend."

Jill Lockie increased her personal best in the high jump by more than five inches to qualify for Nationals. Drew Hysjulien also qualified for Nationals in the triple jump on Saturday with a jump of 45'9". Hysjulien also won the High Jump at 6'4".

Jenny Castro walked away with a first place finish in the Shot with a launch of 41'3 1/2", Amanda Warnett won the 400M and Amanda LaFountain finished first in the 3,000.

"The women have made great progress throughout this season and many people have contributed," said Melby.

Eric Sheppard won the long jump and Cody Goetz won the pole vault. Johnny Lester took first in the 55M, Ulysses Dalton II ran away with the 55 hurdles and Devin Hiller gained a first place finish in the 400.

"I am truely happy with how our men's team competed, they are building confidence with every meet. It was great to get a chance to compete at home and we are looking forward to hosting more indoor meets in the future," said Stu Melby.

This is the first meet to be held in Dome since the rebuilding of the indoor track this last summer.

The Beavers will head to the Dakota Athletic Confernce Indoor Championships in Spearfish, SD on Thursday, February 21st.
