Minot State Open April 18th, 2009

Seltvedt Hits National Mark, Boyeff Breaks School Record

The Beaver throwers led the way yesterday at the MInot State Open with a national qualifier and a school record. Sophomore Casey Seltvedt led the women with her win and national qualifiying mark in the Discus of 137 feet 1 inch. The women also had four season bests and six new marks along with three other event winners - Julia Williams, Hammer; Mel Barbour, Javelin; and Sam Rogers, 400.

Redshirt sophomore Alex Boyeff broke the previous record in the hammer by ten feet with a toss of 140 feet 1/2 inch to take third in the event. Boyeff also won the shot put with his season best and placed fourth in the discus. The men had an additional three personal bests, five season bests and 12 new marks along with two other event winners - Khaldon Evans in the 400 and the 4x400 relay team of Darwins Schwartz, Evans, Gary Heitkamp and Devin Hiller.

The Beavers were without the services of five athletes due to acute injuries and family obligations.
