Minot State solidifies inaugural schedule
MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University head coach Jason Spain has been busy working oMSU Soccern the first-ever Beavers women’s soccer schedule. MSU will play six home games during its first year of play.

MSU opens the season at NCAA Division II Minnesota State-Mankato in an exhibition match Aug. 20, 2010 at 7 p.m. MSU plays its second exhibition game against a DII opponent Aug. 21, 2010 at Winona State (7 p.m.). Both Mankato and Winona play in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

The Beavers first home date is Aug. 27, 2010 at what will be the newly resurfaced, artificial turfed Herb Parker Stadium against Mount Marty College (S.D.). The soccer team will play a night after the MSU football team opens the new stadium. Game time for the 2010 Minot State soccer home opener is under the lights at 7 p.m.

MSU plays NCAA DII Minnesota-Crookston two days later before heading out on a four-game road trip.

In all, MSU plays 11 away games to go along with six home dates and two exhibition games.

Hawaii striker Barnett chooses Minot State

Talented striker Dakota Barnett is the latest addition to the Minot State University women's soccer program, MSU head coach Jason Spain announced. Barnett, from the island of Kauai, Hawaii, has been the Most Valuable Player in her high school for four straight seasons. She played on the Hawaii State ODP team every season since 2005 and scored the game winning goal at the Far West Regionals championship for the Honolulu Bulls. She scored three goals and added two assists at Nationals.

MSU adds Southwest Baptist transfer Urguhart

Minot State University head coach Jason Spain has announced that Southwest Baptist University (Mo.) defender Chelsea Urquhart has decided to transfer to Minot State to continue her soccer career. Urquhart is originally from Calgary, Alberta where, in high school, she was named Top Female Soccer player twice and was a three-year captain. She was named to the Calgary Soccer Selects in 2007 and 2008. She also played club soccer for the Calgary Blizzard Soccer Club.

Minot State signs versatile Matsumoto

Minot State University has signed the versatile Nichole Matsumoto to a Dakota Athletic Conference letter of intent to begin her collegiate soccer career for the Beavers starting in the fall. Matsumoto can either play left side midfield or left side back. She plays for California state power Clovis West High School. She scored five goals and added 10 assists for Clovis West last season. Matsumoto also plays club soccer for Odyssey Soccer Club and East Fresno Fusion. She helped her club team win the Long Beach Sun and Surf Tournament and the Davis Showcase.
"He ability to put opponents under pressure will be a huge asset," said MSU head coach Jason Spain.
