Channel 19 and Beyond
Applying their knowledge and getting their hands on the control is the goal for broadcasting majors. Broadcasting majors gain valuable production experience in all forms by working on the television program MSU Inside/Out, aired weekly on the all-access Channel 19 in the Minot area. Students further hone their skills working on KMSU Channel 19 Radio, a program that plays behind the public service announcements.
A major in broadcasting provides students with a strong understanding of various aspects of mass media. Core courses develop strong communication skills and provide knowledge of communication theory. Built into the major are opportunities for students to apply their skills through internships and various student-driven projects.
In addition to campus generated programs students have the opportunity to take part in the KMSU Auction and live shows of the beaver basketball games. These two projects alone help the department to become locally recognized by community members.
