Robin Deutsch, Watford City, N.D.
As I finish up student teaching and prepare to graduate, I believe I have a good chance of getting hired thanks to experiences that set me above everyone else. I am a business education student who transferred to Minot State University. I had heard that the education program was good at Minot State, but I soon found out that the business program is just as good.
By being involved, I have had many opportunities that led to other chances. After attending Minot State for a semester, I was asked to be on the student-advisory committee for the dean of the College of Business. I was able to have a say in my education and visit first hand with College of Business Dean JoAnn Linrud as well as other students from different departments in the College of Business. Through these visits, I was more aware of the different organizations and different events that are supported by the business departments.
I am currently a member of Phi Beta Lambda and will be competing for Future Business Teacher and Database Design and Applications at the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif., this June. I am also involved in Student North Dakota Education Association and have found out that being involved does not take too much time, I was able to work 20 hours a week, carry a full-credit load and still find time to do my own things. I have been recognized and honored with different awards and scholarships, and I know that I would not have achieved such things if I were not so involved at Minot State.
