Rick Hedberg began his tenth school year at Minot State University, after joining the Beavers in the fall of 2001. Hedberg is very familiar with MSU and the Minot area, as he was raised in Parshall, N.D., and graduated from Parshall High School in 1984. He attended Minot State as an undergraduate, competing in both football and basketball for the Beavers. Hedberg achieved great success on the basketball court as he earned both All-Conference (three years) and All-District (two years) honors. He is currently third on the all-time scoring list for the Beaver menís basketball team and was inducted into the MSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997.
As athletic director, Hedberg was named Dakota Athletic Conference-10 Athletic Director of the Year for 2002-2003. He is currently leading the charge as Minot State completes its move from the NAIA to NCAA Division II athletics.
Prior to his employment at Minot State, Hedberg spent nine years as a math instructor and head boysí basketball coach at Williston High School. He completed his masterís degree in administration at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, in 1998. Hedberg spent two years as an assistant athletic director at UND from 1999 to 2001.
Rick and his wife, Andrea (Limke), have two children, Mason and Maddie.
