MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State Summer Theatre will be shining new light on its 53rd season thanks to $18,000 in donations which will be used to update the more than 20-year-old lighting system currently in place.

Hess Corporation donated $6,000 for the lighting project, while the remaining $12,000 was raised through funds provided by the summer theatre budget and various donors participating in MSU’s Giving Day on April 11.

“Lighting creates mood, atmosphere, setting and magic in outdoor theatre,” Bill Harbort, MSU humanities chair said. “Our campus community is delighted and excited about the potential of this lighting gift.”

According to Harbort the new lighting system is expected to be installed before the opening of the season’s first production, “Sister Act,” on June 12.

“We anticipate a spectacular season this summer and for many more seasons which makes us so appreciative of the support from Hess Corporation, our Giving Day donors, and Minot State University,” Harbort said.
