MSU broadcast department changes degree designation

MINOT, N.D. – The broadcast department at Minot State University has secured a new designation in its degree offering after receiving approval from the Academic Affairs Council and the NDUS Chancellor’s Cabinet.

MSU now offers a B.A. in Broadcasting and Professional Communication. Previously the program offered a B.A. in only Broadcasting.

“The name change better reflects the evolution and diverse curriculum of the major,” humanities chair Bill Harbort said. “In addition to careers in print journalism, television and radio, our graduates pursue careers as social media managers, online content developers, and public relations specialists.”

The broadcasting and professional communication program offers four areas of study: communication, journalism, public relations and advertising, and production.

Potential students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in broadcast and professional communication can learn more about the program by visiting the MSU website at http://www.minotstateu.edu/enroll/programs/broadcasting.shtml.
