Minot State to host Science Olympiad regional

MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University will host a regional Science Olympiad in Division B and Division C Monday, March 12 at various locations across the MSU campus.

The Science Olympiad is a competition with science-based events where schools accumulate points for each event. In each event, the first three places will receive medals and the top placing teams will earn a chance to compete at the State Science Olympiad at North Dakota State University in April.

Division B classification is comprised of junior high and middle school students, while Division C is senior high school students. There are 10 teams registered for the Division B and 13 teams for Division C. Division B teams include Bishop Ryan, Cavalier, Des Lacs-Burlington, Drake, Garrison, Glenburn, Jim Hill Middle School, Nedrose, South Prairie, and Velva. The Division C teams include Bishop Ryan, Cavalier, Des Lacs-Burlington, Drake, Garrison, Glenburn, Minot Central Campus, Minot Magic City Campus, Nedrose, South Prairie, and Velva.

Both divisions will compete in 37 different events at multiple venues on MSU’s campus including Swain Hall, Cyril Moore, Old Main, and the MSU Dome.

The competition begins at 8:30 a.m. with four events and the final events are scheduled to finish at 2:10 p.m.
