JCEMP launches new cohort\

Eighteen students, starting in the Job Corps Executive Management program, arrived on Minot State University’s campus Sunday evening (Aug. 24). Coming from across the country, they are at MSU for a three-day orientation, Aug. 25-27.

"It is always exciting to welcome a new cohort of JCEMP Fellows to our campus. We are excited about the inclusion of the Master of Science in information systems into the JCEMP," said Lori Willoughby, Ph.D., professor of business information technology and director of JCEMP. "This cohort is an energetic group that will keep the MSU College of Business faculty on their toes."

The JCEMP is the only program of its kind in the country, and this cohort will be the eighth for the program. The cohort members are junior to mid-level managers from Job Corps who aspire to be center directors. The JCEMP is funded by a U.S. Department of Labor earmark sponsored by North Dakota Senator Byron Dorgan.

The students and their centers are as follows: Dawn Anderson, Muhlenberg Career Development Center; Robert Barth, Mingo Job Corps CCC; Kurt Blanock, Pittsburgh Job Corps Center; Keri Brown, Northlands Job Corps Center; Laura Foust, Dynamic Educational Systems, Inc.; Richard Harriford, Golconda CCC; Noree Hart, Jacksonville Job Corp Center, Eric Jones, Miami Job Corps Centers, Tasha Jones, Woodstock Job Corps Center; Bryan King, North Texas Job Corps Center; Jill Lewis, Edison Job Corps Academy; Otis May, Loring Job Corps Center; Melanie Radford, Phoenix Job Corps Center; Ranada Reed, Odle Management Group; Sally Reiger, Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center; Cherise Reynolds, Whitney Young Job Corps Center; Malyn Smith, Delaware Valley Job Corps Center; and Tricia Williams, DESI.

In addition to learning about Minot State University’s Graduate School and its Masters of Science in management and information systems programs, the JCEMP students will learn more about North Dakota. On Tuesday, they will tour the Knife River Indian Village near Stanton, the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan in Washburn and Fort Lincoln in Bismarck.
