MSU offers sympathy to Loy family

Minot State University has been greatly saddened by the death of H. Michael Loy, a visiting professor of communication arts this past academic year, of natural causes on July 5. We extend our condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.

"We are grateful for the capabilities that Michael Loy brought to our campus, since he stepped in as a visiting professor of communication arts this past fall. He touched many people's lives through his involvement in campus productions and the Mouse River Players," said Linda Olson, chair of the Division of Humanities. "Michael was unassuming and gentle. We will miss him."

While at MSU, Loy taught speech and theatre courses. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Concordia College in Moorhead, and his Master of Fine Arts from Trinity University in Dallas, Texas. He also did post-graduate work at North Dakota State University.

The memorial service will be Saturday (July 19) at 2 p.m. in the Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home (1400 7th St. S.) in Moorhead, Minn. Cards may be sent in care of Jon Loy, 2257 Nobles St., Apt. 306, Worthington, Minn., 56187. An online guest book is at www.korsmofuneralservice.com.
