Office of Public Information

Lyman appointed MSU director of public information

Mark Lyman, of Minot, has been named director of public information at Minot State University, according to President David Fuller. Most recently, he has been the anchor and producer for KMOT-TV’s evening and night reports for three years. Lyman began at MSU on July 7.

"Mr. Lyman brings with him an impressive background in journalism and broadcasting, community service, and a genuine commitment to the people in our community," said MSU President David Fuller. "Mark works so well with people. He will be able to bring those abilities to our university to publicize what Minot State offers and its potential for great growth in the future."

Fuller said he is confident of Lyman’s ability to serve as the senior leader for the public information office and that he was impressed by the new director’s understanding of the critical role the university plays in Minot and in the region.

"Making the jump to MSU is something I have wanted for years," said Lyman. "The chance now to communicate in a fast-paced environment, work closely with President Fuller, students, faculty and staff to reach out to a growing community excites me."

Currently, Lyman is president for the Community Relations Council at Burdick Job Corp, and he has served as an emcee for various community events. Other community involvement includes being a troop committee chairman for Boy Scouts and various leadership positions within his church.

Prior to being promoted to an anchor and producer position at KMOT in 2005, Lyman worked as a general assignments reporter. He earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Brigham Young University in 2002.

Marv Semrau, vice president for advancement, chaired the search. He was assisted by an advisory committee comprised of members of the College of Business, the Office of Publications and Design, human resources and the marketing department.
