Policies and Fees

Orientation is the first step of your education at Minot State University. The expectation is that you take advantage of the opportunity orientation presents to learn how to be successful at MSU. Failure to attend or participate in any parts of orientation can jeopardize proper academic advising and enrollment in classes.

All new first-year and transfer degree-seeking students are required to attend an orientation program.

Alcohol and Other Drug Use
The orientation program strictly adheres to MSU campus policy, as well as all state and federal laws regarding alcohol and/or drug use. The use of alcohol and/or drugs during the program is not permitted.

Students who are in the presence of and/or consuming alcohol and/or drugs will be referred to the office of Student Conduct and/or the University Police Department. Failure to abide by this policy could also result in being asked to leave the program without registering for classes. Students who are asked to leave the program are still responsible for all confirmation fees

Billing and Payment
You will be charged the one-time New Student Fee, which covers New Student Orientation Programs (NSO) and Welcome Week(end) programming. This fee will be assessed with your tuition and student fees in the first semester of attendance. If you attend an NSO program and do not enroll, you will still be charged the New Student Fee

Late Policy or Missing Portions of the Program
You must arrive to orientation on time. If you show up late, you will be asked to reschedule your orientation. Failure to attend or participate in any parts of orientation can jeopardize proper academic advising and enrollment. You will be required to attend another orientation event and will be charged accordingly. Please call us at 701-858-3350 or 1-800-777-0750 ext. 3350 or email orientation@MinotStateU.edu to reschedule.
