Welcome to the home page of the Omicron Tau Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (STTI). Thanks to the help, encouragement and work of many, this site is a reality. In 2008, Omicron Tau Chapter celebrated its 10 year anniversary as a chapter of STTI!
The vision of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing is to create a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world's people. The mission of the honor society is to support the learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses committed to make a difference in health worldwide. By the year 2020, it is the goal of the honor society to be the organization of choice for scholarship, knowledge and leadership for nurses globally. As a leader in professional nursing, the honor society will play a significant role in addressing global health issues. This will be possible because of the intellect and leadership of its members who will influence health care decisions globally, regionally and locally.
The vision, mission and goals of STTI translate into local action through chapter sponsored educational programs, activities and service projects by all members. The chapter offers several educational programs each year, works in collaboration with other professional nursing organizations to provide education and support to nurses who care for clients in several areas of nursing practice. The chapter encourages professional and leadership development. The chapter needs all members to consider their interests, talents and abilities to assist in carrying out these goals. There are many opportunities for member involvement such as committees, task forces, service projects, educational presentations and board of directors. Take time to check out all the opportunities on this web site!
By linking to the STTI national web site http://www.nursingsociety.org, members can further explore all the resources and opportunities available to them. There are opportunities to become involved on the regional and international levels.
Omicron Tau Chapter needs to continue to build membership, as well as develop programs and activities that answer to the needs of the members. All members are welcome to attend our scheduled board meetings and yearly annual meeting. Notices are sent out and available on this web site. Feel free to call me if you are interested in becoming more involved!
