NDCPD hosting community meeting in Parshall
The North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities, Center of Excellence on the Minot State University campus, will host a community input session for the Souris Valley Special Services Unit Strategic Plan March 27 at the Parshall High School, biology lab, 1:3-3 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to gather community input on the future topics and direction of special education services in the area. Teachers, parents, administrators, community members and all people interested in special education services are invited to attend.
"This gives our staff a great opportunity to hear from the public, and then plan our services accordingly. We want to hear about what we are doing well, and where we can direct our efforts to improve," said Alison Dollar, SVSS director of Souris Valley Special Services Unit.
"Strategic planning offers programs and agencies a chance to look at community needs, and then plan for the future," said Brent Askvig, NDCPD executive director and the session facilitator. "It is important for everyone to weigh in on the future of the program, and offer suggestions for what is important for the children's' futures."
Community members will be provided with a brief overview of the current operations of SVSS. The public will then be led through a process of input and comment with a summary prioritization of future topics and operations.
