'Reading for Rugrats' collecting books through March

Minot State University's "COMM 324: Community Relations" class is sponsoring "Reading for Rugrats." This program is designed to help deployed Minot Air Force Base personnel who wish to leave lasting memories in their absence. "Reading for Rugrats" is currently soliciting donated books and offering to produce audio recordings of parents reading to their children. Families will be provided an audio CD at the semester's end.

"I think the idea behind 'Reading for Rugrats' is very unique and can leave a great impact on these families," said Josh Sandy, public relations major. "I encourage everyone to take time to donate a book to help out this project."

"This project was the outcome of three entities: my course, the Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning and Minot's RSVP+. Together, we wanted to help the community and engage students in an active way," said Audra Myerchin, assistant communication arts professor. "The students are excited about the project and proceeded without reservations."

Collection bins for books are located at Old Navy, Main Street Books, Minot Air Force Base, Goodwill, Minot Public Library, MSU Post Office, Beaver Brew Cafe, Arrowhead Mall and Restore. The class will collect books through March 31.
