MSO celebrates spring March 2

The Minot Symphony Orchestra warms up its 87th season, "A New Era!" with "Dance into Spring" March 2 in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall, 7:30 p.m. Scott Seaton, musical director, will lead the orchestra in a program featuring selections from Mexican composer Arturo Marquez to Russian composer Igor Stravinsky.

Guest cellist Madeleine Kabat will highlight the exotic lyricism and Spanish dance rhythms in Lalo's famous Cello Concerto. Following her solo debut with the Cleveland Orchestra at age 18, Kabat has been featured as soloist with several orchestras but most recently with the Red de Escuelas de Musica Orquesta (Medellin, Colombia), Cleveland State University Orchestra, Oberlin Sinfonietta and Cleveland Philharmonic. She made her solo debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., last spring, and she has won top prizes in competitions, and she.

Minot State University students, faculty and staff are admitted free with a current ID to MSO concerts. Additional tickets range from $5 to $25 by age and seating choice, with season ticket prices available.

Symphony patrons are invited to join Erik Anderson, associate music professor, for a 6:30 p.m. preconcert lecture for an inside look at the symphony program and what to listen for during the performance.
