Business dean retiring from MSU
JoAnn Linrud, dean of the College of Business at Minot State University, is retiring at the end of the academic year. Linrud is a native of Velva and became dean at MSU on July 1, 2006.
"Dr. Linrud has contributed a great deal to our university and the College of Business," said MSU President David Fuller. She brought with her an extensive administrative experience and strong academic credentials. As an accomplished leader, she possesses a collegial leadership style, a commitment to academic excellence, the keen knowledge and appreciation for North Dakota and the ability to work cooperatively with community leaders and businesses from Minot and our state."
Lenore Koczon, vice president for academic affairs, congratulated Linrud on her retirement.
"Dr. Linrud has provided extraordinary leadership as dean," said Koczon. "During her tenure, the College of Business made remarkable strides in forming new programs, strengthening existing programs and stimulating economic development efforts."
Under Linrud's oversight, the Severson Entrepreneurship Academy was created in 2010 as a result of a milestone gift from Clint Severson, MSU alumnus and president and chief executive officer of Abaxis, Inc., and Conni Ahart. SEA offers students real-life knowledge and skills critical for understanding how to start, maintain and analyze start-up businesses. MSU's College of Business online graduate programs and MSU undergraduate online programs have also been ranked among the country's best online education programs.
"I feel incredibly fortunate to come back to North Dakota to work with so many fine individuals at the university and in the Minot community," Linrud said. "I'm thankful to MSU for giving me the opportunity."
Linrud came to MSU from the College of Business Administration at Central Michigan University, where she served as interim associate dean and director of the Master of Business Administration program. She held positions previously as a faculty member at Minnesota State University-Mankato and the University of North Texas.
