MSU Men's Hockey Club garners academic achievement and Character Builder Award
In addition to a national top three rank, the Minot State University Men's Hockey Club excelled academically during fall 2012. Nigel Dube, Garrett Ferguson, Sam Benson, Ryan Curzon and Brett Nespor were named to the President's List, while Bob Pond was included on the College of Education and Health Sciences Dean's List achievement. The President's List recognizes students with a grade point average of 3.8 and above. The "Dean's List" distinguishes students who earned GPAs of 3.5 to 3.79 within their respective colleges.
Recently, the teammates learned they were selected as one of four recipients of the Character Builder Award by the Minot Community Character Counts! Coalition. The award will be presented Jan. 30.
"We are also proud that 15 team members achieved a fall grade point average of 3.2 or higher. We recognize that these accomplishments were made more difficult by the heavy team travel schedule during the fall term and appreciate the dedication to the classroom," said Wade Regier, head men's hockey coach. "Thanks also to Nigel Dube for his coordination of the Read to Succeed Program. Through this project, the team members are able to inspire young students to succeed academically."
