'Late Night with Beaver Basketball' is a success
The Minot State University women's and men's basketball teams hosted "Late Night with Beaver Basketball" on Friday night (Oct. 19) in the MSU Dome.
The night was filled with prizes and free pizza for students, a three-point shootout competition for the women's and men's teams, and also a slam dunk contest for the men's team in front of an estimated crowd of 300 Beaver fans.
Junior Isiah Gandy ( West Palm Beach, Fla.) won the dunk contest with some impressive finishes at the rim. Senior Josh Johnson (Lufkin, Texas) placed second.
Sacarra Molina (Sr., Hinsdale, Mont.) won the women's three-point shootout, while freshman Dominique McDonald (Raleigh, N.C.) took the title for the men's three-point shootout.
Two MISU football players impressed the crowd with their talents on the hardwood. Blake Eggl won the men's student three-point shootout and Glyn Borel dominated the student slam dunk competition, compiling two perfect scores. April Nakatani won the women's student three-point competition.
The Minot State women will start their season playing an exhibition game at Montana State on Nov. 4. The Beaver men will open their season in Denver, Colo. as they play at No. 5 Metro State University of Denver on Nov. 9.
