Lecture explores energy-impact solutions Sept. 18
The Northwest Art Center lecture series will present "Energy Impact: Exploring Solutions" by Joanne Beckman Tuesday (Sept. 18) in Aleshire Theater, 7 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public. An informal reception will follow the presentation.
Beckman is one of a group of researchers from Minot State University and Dickinson State University who are studying the impact of energy development on North Dakota. Their study, the Western North Dakota Energy Impact Symposia Project, is undertaken in cooperation with the Great Plains Energy Corridor, through a grant from the United States Department of Energy.
Beckman will discuss how the topics, communities, and researchers for the energy-impact solution models project were selected and outline the processes they followed. She will discuss issues that surfaced during community focus groups and will provide a synopsis of the solutions conference, including both the researchersí solution models and suggestions offered by conference participants.
The Northwest Art Center lecture series is funded in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. For more information about Northwest Art Center activities, call (701)858-3264.
