
2009 NAIA Football Championship Series
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has officially announced the teams and pairings for the 2009 Football Championship Series. A total of 16 teams will play at eight first-round sites on Nov. 21. Defending national champion University of Sioux Falls will face Minot State in Sioux Falls at 1 p.m. The Cougars are riding a 25-game winning streak and recently won their fourth straight Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship. Minot State is appearing in its first championship series since 2002. It earned an at-large berth and earned a share of the Dakota Athletic Conference title with Dickinson State.
Sioux Falls is making its ninth straight NAIA Championship Series appearance, which is second longest among active schools. They are the defending national champions and a three-time NAIA winner (2008, 2006 and 1996). Sioux Falls recently won its fourth straight Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship.
