Make the call, win it all

The Minot State University broadcasting program will host their 11th annual KMSU auction on Dec. 3. The auction airs live on KMSU Channel 19, Minot’s local access channel at 6:30 p.m., with a preshow starting at 5 p.m.

"We have a strong group to make this year’s auction even more successful than years past," said Jenn Thorgramson, auction coordinator.

The auction brought in more than $15,000 last year for the broadcasting program. This year’s goal is to raise funds for Media Ink, departmental equipment and MSU broadcasting scholarships. Ten percent of the donated earnings will go to a local charitable cause. This year it is Lynne Rumney, the MSU Honors Programs director, who is undergoing cancer treatments.

Rumney and her family were touched when the broadcasting program chose her as the 2009 recipient.

"This is a great opportunity to draw awareness to Minot State students and faculty and anyone who is or was coping with cancer," Rumney said.

The annual auction showcases a variety of items from Minot’s local retailers and other generous contributors. To make the auction possible, they are seeking donations. Businesses will find this a beneficial and unique way to market their businesses.
