MSU Business Information Technology's Technology Day set for Dec. 10

On Dec. 10 at Minot State University, area high school students will compete during the Department of Business Technology’s 11th annual Technology Day. The welcome session, which follows registration, begins at 8:45 a.m. in the Conference Center, third floor of the Student Center.

"Technology Day is an excellent event to showcase area high school students in their business and technology skills," said Jan Repnow, instructor of business education. "This event also showcases our business teacher education students as they plan, organize and manage all aspects of this competition in preparation for their upcoming teaching career."

The area high schools select students for competition in accounting, business law, desktop publishing, document production, business principles, spreadsheet applications and Web page design. Every school is eligible to enter one student in each of the seven individual events. First, second and third-place awards will be given in each event; a traveling trophy will be presented to the school receiving the most points for individual placements. Participating high schools are Anamoose, Kenmare, Max, Sawyer, Surrey, TGU Granville, Underwood, Velva and Westhope.

BIT faculty members, business teacher education students and Phi Beta Lambda members will supervise the competition, which starts at 9 a.m. in the Conference Center and Main 314 and 316. An awards ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in the Conference Center.

In addition to the College of Business’ BIT department, Technology Day sponsors include SRT Communications and Grand International Inn. For questions about this event, contact Repnow at 858-3325 or jan.repnow@minotstateu.edu.
