MSU College of Arts and Sciences dean appointed

Conrad Davidson, Ph.D., has been named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Minot State University, according to Gary Rabe, vice president for academic affairs. Davidson, a professor of communication arts, has been serving as interim dean for the College of Arts and Sciences since August 15. He will begin his new appointment July 1, 2008.

"The College of Arts and Sciences dean search committee needs to be commended for reviewing the credentials and interviewing several qualified candidates. At the end of the search process, it was clear that we had the best candidate already on campus," said Rabe. "Conrad has the advantage of knowing the history of Minot State University as well as understanding how the College of Arts and Sciences will play a significant role in helping Minot State University achieve Vision 2013. I am delighted to have Conrad serve as a member of my administrative team."

"Everyone on campus-staff, faculty, and administration-plays a part in supporting students and faculty as they engage in scholarship, teaching and lifelong learning. I value everyone’s place in that process," said Davidson. "After 22 years on the campus, I look forward to serving Minot State University in a new capacity in support of that mission." Davidson joined MSU in 1986 after teaching at the secondary level for 10 years. He was chair of the Division of Humanities from 1997 to 2006.

Davidson earned a doctoral degree in English from the University of North Dakota, a master’s degree in theatre from North Dakota State University and a bachelors degree in theatre from Dickinson State University. He received the 2007 Board of Regents Faculty Achievement Award in service.

Three finalists, including Davidson, interviewed at MSU during late March. JoAnn Linrud, dean of the College of Business, was chair of the search committee.
