Homecoming 2007: 'Beaver Boot Camp... Can You Handle It?'

Homecoming at Minot State University this year centers on the theme "Beaver Boot Camp ... Can You Handle It?" Homecoming week officially kicks off Sunday (Sept. 16) with a four-person Beaver Golf Scramble, sponsored by Delta Epsilon Chi, at 1 p.m. at the Wildwood Golf Course in Burlington.

Monday features voting for Homecoming King and Queen in the quad from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. "Great Big Faces" caricatures by artist Paul Merklein, food and music will also be provided in the quad, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The day will end with a Casino Night and karaoke by Crowd Pleasers in the Beaver Dam, 7-10 p.m.

Tuesday continues with caricatures by Merklein, free food for students and music in the quad, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Coronation with entertainment by Rob Paravonian will be held in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall at 7 p.m. The Homecoming Dance at the Holiday Inn-Riverside Coliseum with live music by band "October Road" will follow the ceremonies, 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

Wednesday brings music featuring Jazmine Wolff at noon and "Alone in Cadence" at 1 p.m. in the quad. Beginning at 8 p.m., illusionist Ryan McFarling entertains in the Beaver Dam.

Free food for students and music starts Thursday's activities at 11 a.m. in the quad. At noon, the band "Last Great Summer" will play. A billiards tournament follows at 3 p.m. in the Beaver Dam. In the evening, hypnotist Sailesh performs in Aleshire Theater at 9 p.m.

The Sept. 21 events include music and a barbeque in the quad, 11 a.m. A reunion of MSU alumni who belonged to Greek organizations will convene at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn-Riverside. A bonfire at 8:30 p.m. in the Dome parking lot will precede a toga dance in the Beaver Dam, 10 p.m.-1 a.m.

Homecoming culminates Sept. 22 with the "Beaver Parade," starting at 10:30 a.m. Beginning at the Civic Auditorium, the parade route runs east on Burdick Expressway, north on Main Street, west on Central Avenue, north on Broadway to Fourth Avenue, then west to Sixth Street and north to the MSU Library. A tailgate party in the east lot of the Dome will follow. The Beavers face off against Black Hills State University, Herb Parker Stadium, 1:30 p.m. During half-time, the homecoming royalty and Hall of Fame Inductees will be introduced.

Most activities are free with MSU student and staff identification. Guests may be charged a nominal fee. Individual events sponsored by organizations other than the Student Association may have separate charges. In case of inclement weather, any activities scheduled in the quad will be moved to the Beaver Dam. This year's Homecoming chairs are seniors Ali Monley, Minot, and Melissa Hoots, Minot.
