11th Avenue North to close Tuesday morning [5/29/07]
The reconstruction schedule of North Broadway is requiring that the west side of 11th Avenue North be closed beginning the morning of Tuesday, May 29. The signed detour on Broadway will direct you to turn left at the vacant Cartiva building. Skirt around the south side of the building to the access road between Bishop Ryan High School and the Dairy Queen, and then travel south to reach 11th Avenue. It is expected that the west side of 11th Avenue will be closed for at least three weeks.
The west side of the North Broadway and University Avenue intersection was reopened May 24. There is a single lane east- and westbound covered with gravel. Please note that during the summer term, no permits are required to use the residence hall and unreserved lots. Those of you who normally park in the lots near the Administration and Student Union buildings may want to use the lots near Cook Hall and Lura Manor. Those who park in the Dome lots may want to consider accessing those lots from the west or north. The intersections at 19th Avenue and 20th Avenue North remain open. (Although remember that you can't turn left off Broadway at lighted 20th).
For your safety and the safety of construction workers, drivers are asked to stay alert when traveling through the construction zone. Along the construction route, the maximum speed limit is 25 mph south of 11th Avenue and 30 mph just north of 11th Avenue. It was brought to my attention last week that police were patrolling access and frontage roads.
I will continue to provide updates such as these, and new information will continue to be posted to the MSU home page. Please do your best to relay this information to guests and visitors to campus. Also, please continue to be alert and cautious when driving the construction site.
