Matthew Winburn: BA in Music Performance and Professional Chemistry

I originally chose Minot State University because the cost is low for the education that you get and because I wanted to go to school that was specifically made for the under grad program where I wouldn’t get lost in the crowd. I personally believe that Minot State has class sizes that are big enough to feel part of a group but small enough that you can get the one on one attention that you need. The teachers are caring and make lessons that are individual, helping the students grow more than they could alone. Being part of an extremely intense double major program, the school understands my needs and helps me plan my classes, getting the time spots I need.

In the Music Department I study under Dr. David Rolandson. Under him I improved more in one semester than I did throughout all of high school. He provides me with material that is challenging and he knows what I need to grow as a student. He inspires me to be a better musician by giving my countless opportunities to grow and perform. I feel that he is my advisor, my teacher, and my mentor and I don’t believe that is something that you can find any where else.
