Cherie Collins came to MSU in the Fall of 2000 and is Instructor of Voice and Double Reeds, and also directs the MSU Women’s Choir as well as teaches Secondary Choral Methods. She holds her BME and MME from Arkansas State University where she studied under the direction of Alfred Skoog and David Niederbrach. She had completed additional graduate hours at Vandercook College of Music in Chicago.

Mrs. Collins was Director of Choral Activities in the Nettleton School District in Jonesboro, Arkansas before coming to Minot. During her time there, she served as President of the Arkansas Choral Directors Association, All-State Chairperson, and State Music Festival Coordinator. She has been a junior and senior high choral clinician and holds professional memberships in ACDA, MENC, SAI, as well as PEO. She has also served as a vocal adjudicator throughout the state of North Dakota.

This past year, Mrs. Collins took on the directorship of the Western Plains Junior Choir, an area children’s choir made up of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Other talents include being producer for a local ballet company, and choreographer for the Western Plains Opera production of "The Mikado" this school year.
