Avis Veikley joined the Division of Music in 2002. She is Instructor of Private Percussion, Percussion Methods and Percussion Ensemble, and faculty advisor of the MSU Drumline. She received her B.S. in Music Education from Minot State University and M.M. from the University of Northern Illinois at DeKalb. She serves as principal percussionist and timpanist with the Minot Symphony Orchestra and is music director at Congregational United Church of Christ in Minot.

In addition to playing in MSO, Ms. Veikley has performed with numerous community groups including the Western Plains Opera, Brass Band of Minot, Minot Chamber Chorale, Minot City Band and MSU Summer Theatre. Ms. Veikley performed in Europe, Taiwan and Japan as a percussionist with International Music Camp Tour Bands under the direction of Dr. Merton Utgaard. In 2001, she arranged and orchestrated the music for "Medora," an original musical play by Glory Monson, which was performed by the Village Arts Community Theatre in Rugby, ND.
