Distance Education Services

The Gordon B. Olson Library is pleased to provide      you with library services while you are enrolled at      Minot State University.

I am Sarah Henderson, the librarian in charge of making sure you get the library materials you need. If you need any help please feel free to e-mail me or call me at 1-800-777-0750 (ask for extension 3094).

Library Cards
The first step to receiving library services is to apply for a library card:

  • If you live in the Minot area, we invite you to visit the library and apply in person for a library card.
  • If you don't live near Minot, you can apply using this electronic form. As soon as we receive your application, we will send you a library card. This card will allow you to login to our subscription databases, and will allow you to check out materials from the library.

Logging on to the Library's Databases
If you are off campus and want to search the library's databases, you will need to log in with a login number and password.

Your login number is your student ID number or the 14 digit number that you will find on your library card or on the back of your student id card. Your password is your last name, in lowercase letters. Make sure the capslock is not active on your keyboard.

Information
The Gordon B. Olson reference and information services extends the same support and privileges to its off-campus patrons as it does to those on campus. If you need help finding information, please feel free to submit an online question or to call us at 1-800-777-0750 (ask for extension 3296).

Interlibrary Loan
If you have identified the materials you need and they are not available at your local library, you may ask the staff at the Olson Library to send them to you by submitting an Interlibrary Loan Request. (The page this link takes you to explains the steps you'll need to follow when when filling out the request. You might want to print the page out before you begin.)

Electronic Reserves
Your professor may place materials on the library's electronic reserve system (ERes) for you. Be sure to ask your professor if there is a password for your class material.
