2005 - Destination Rome, Paris, London
During spring semester, 2005, 5 MSU students traveled through Europe with MSU faculty member Robert Kibler (English and Humanities), to visit Rome, Naples, Pompeii, Florence, Paris, and London. Along the way they stood in the midst of the Roman Forum, tossed coins into the Trevi Fountain, beheld Michelangelo’s Pieta in St. Peter’s Cathedral, climbed the Eiffel Tower, took ship down the Seine, traveled to the palace of Versailles, and witnessed the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. Students earned university course credit in coordination with their travels, and learned to identify scores of classical, renaissance, and baroque works or art. They also researched such topics as the ‘The Vitruvian Architect as Artist in Classical Rome,’ ‘Fishy Fast Food in Pompeii," ‘Perspective in Italian Renaissance Art.’
